Head Studies

The series of head studies are not based on models or photographic portraits but rather emerge from the subconscious and fleeting memories of images observed, these images float across the canvas with the paint creating effects which are shaped into features. Occasionally a realistic image emerges as a recognisable person, but mostly they express emotional responses to thoughts that lie hidden.
